NFORBELIE SCHOLARSHIP FUND FOR UNDERPRIVILEDGED & ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The Nforbelie Scholarship Fund is a USD 5,000.00 annual fund launched in 2023 to support education in Cameroon. The scholarship fund will provide financial assistance to both meritorious and vulnerable students in pursuit of their academic growth. We belief in fostering equality by ensuring equal access to quality education by breaking down financial barriers that prevent deserving students from realizing their full potentials. It encourages students to hone their skills, talents and leadership qualities by actively participating in community service, extracurricular activities and building strong communities. It is our goal to empower scholarship recipients to become agents of change within their communities, fostering social progress and contributing to the betterment of planet.
As advocates for equal educational opportunities, we strongly believe that this initiative will impact the lives of deserving students who face financial constraints. The fund will contribute to the overall goal of ending extreme poverty within our community while contributing to sustainable development. The USD 5,000.00 is an annual donation of Louis Nforbelie Ngwa and family to his native community / homeland.
Objectives of the scholarship fund are:
Promote meritocracy by recognizing and rewarding exceptional academic achievements among students from the Nkwen community who have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance in their studies. A minimum of one million (1,000,000frs) of the funds will be dedicated to this category and will be managed by the Nkwen Cultural and Development Association (NCDA) Scholarship Board using its selection criteria. Support Underprivileged learners in Nkwen by providing financial assistance to Nkwen students / pupil who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, facing hardships, and at risk of being unable to pursue education due to financial limitations. A minimum of five hundred thousand (500,000frs) will be set aside for this category will be managed by the Azehfor III Nkwenbere Educational Fund for the underprivileged and / or the New Breed Africa Foundation. Support high performers and vulnerable students of Pinnacle of Success Academy by providing financial aid to honor roll achievers in public exams and exceptionally high performers.
NFORBELIE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The PSA school administration will oversee selection of beneficiaries at the end of each academic year. A minimum of one million (1,000,000frs) is set assist for the PSA community.
Selection process and criteria:
To ensure fairness and transparency, the scholarship fund will recommend to fund managers a rigorous selection process based on the following criteria:
• Academic excellence: applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic performance and maintain a minimum average requirement
• Financial Need: consideration will be given to students/pupils who come from poor backgrounds and face financial challenges in pursuing their education.
1. Applicants are expected to submit a personal statement highlighting their achievements, goals and how the scholarship will positively impact their educational journey
2. For the underprivileged, a letter of recommendation should be provided by a teacher, mentor, guardian and / or a member of the community who can vouch for their situation.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
To ensure accountability and measure the impact of the scholarship fund, there will be:
• Regular reporting: scholarship recipients will be required to provide regular progress reports including academic achievements/ community involvement
• Impact assessment: conduct periodic evaluations to assess the effectiveness of the scholarship program, identify areas of improvement and celebrate success stories
Mentorship program: Establish a mentorship program to guide and support scholarship recipients throughout their academic journey, fostering personal and professional growth. We understand that this may not be a requirement of the fund managers supported by this initiative, but this component of the Nforbelie Scholarship Fund together with M&E will set the pace accountability.
